Burapa English-Programme School (BEST)

A long-running bilingual school in Nongprue whose current official scope and fee image extend from Kindergarten 1 through Secondary 6. The numbers are useful—but the image does not state an academic year.

BEST's official history dates the school’s start to 1 February 1997, correcting the former 1998 directory entry. Its current homepage says the school covers Kindergarten, Primary, Lower Secondary and Upper Secondary, and the fee image confirms the full range with rows through Secondary 6. That makes the former “Pre-K to Year 6” and “primary-only” descriptions inaccurate. The school may still be compared with BPIS because they are related Burapa institutions with different programme structures, but a BEST family is not forced to leave after primary simply because the campus ends. Current sources show that it does not end there.

The live fee image is useful but undated

The official tuition page embeds a fee image uploaded under a March 2026 media path, but the image itself prints no academic year. The surrounding site also still displays a 2025/26 registration banner. Filenames and upload folders are not enough to assign fee currency. This directory therefore records the amounts as primary-undated: they come from the school itself and are current on the live page, but families must ask which academic year and intake the schedule applies to before using it for a commitment.

Tuition must be annualised from two term columns

Kindergarten 1-2 shows ฿23,500 in Term 1 and ฿23,500 in Term 2, giving ฿47,000 annually. Kindergarten 3 is ฿27,500 × 2, or ฿55,000. Primary 1-3 is ฿36,000 × 2, or ฿72,000; Primary 4-6 is ฿42,000 × 2, or ฿84,000. Secondary 1-3 is ฿66,500 × 2, or ฿133,000, and Secondary 4-6 is ฿83,000 × 2, or ฿166,000. The old record had no fee range at all. The corrected range now reaches the actual highest grade instead of stopping at primary.

The entry column combines three charges

The image labels one column “Application/Registration” but prints three addends in each row. Kindergarten shows ฿200 + ฿15,500 + ฿1,870, totalling ฿17,570. Primary shows ฿200 + ฿20,000 + ฿1,870, totalling ฿22,070. Secondary shows ฿200 + ฿30,000 + ฿2,165, totalling ฿32,365. The image itself does not spell out a separate label beside each addend, although the pattern is consistent with application, registration and insurance. This page keeps them as a combined published entry charge rather than assigning more precise names than the source supports.

Bus and food exist, but public prices do not

The school site has bus and food-service pages, yet the tuition page does not publish their current tariffs. The bus page instead tells parents to contact the school for the applicable area and cost. Uniform, books, activities and examination charges are also absent from the fee image. A family should not interpret the low tuition as an all-inclusive number. Request an itemised invoice showing transport by route, meals, uniform set, textbooks, device requirements, activities, trips, examinations and any annual insurance or service charge. If admissions cannot provide a dated schedule, ask them to write the applicable academic year on the quote.

Understand the programme category

BEST describes an English Programme within a Thai-school structure. That is not the same category as a British international school, even when substantial teaching occurs in English. Families should ask which subjects are taught in Thai and English at each grade, which Thai national assessments apply, how English attainment is measured, and what qualification Secondary 6 pupils receive. The answer matters for Thai university entry, transfer into IGCSE or A-Level, and children who may later move to an English-medium international school.

The BPIS relationship is an option, not an automatic ladder

BPIS is the related British secondary school publishing Years 7-13 and Cambridge IGCSE/A-Level pathways. Some families may still prefer to move from BEST into BPIS for that qualification route, but the current BEST scope means the decision is curricular rather than simply a missing grade. Ask whether admission to BPIS is automatic or assessed, whether registration is charged again, how English and mathematics placement works, and what transition support is available. The sites do not publish an automatic guaranteed transfer, so do not build a long-term budget around one.

Who should shortlist it

BEST may suit Thai-foreign families seeking a bilingual programme, Thai educational continuity and significantly lower tuition than international campuses. It may be less suitable for a family requiring an internationally accredited English-only curriculum, boarding or a fully itemised public cost schedule. The strongest next step is a dated written quote at the exact grade and a timetable showing language of instruction by subject. The corrected record makes BEST more useful—full K1-S6 scope and real published tuition—while keeping the missing academic year visible rather than guessing.

A first-year total can be calculated only in part

For Kindergarten 1, the visible components are ฿47,000 annual tuition and ฿17,570 in the combined entry column, giving ฿64,570 before every unpriced item. Primary 1 is ฿72,000 + ฿22,070, or ฿94,070 before services. Secondary 4 is ฿166,000 + ฿32,365, or ฿198,365. These are not complete invoices because the page does not price food, bus, uniform, books, activities or examinations. The arithmetic is still useful: it establishes a minimum visible cash requirement while preserving the unknowns.

The insurance addend changes in secondary

The last addend in the combined entry column is ฿1,870 for Kindergarten and Primary, then ฿2,165 for Secondary. The table does not provide an English label that independently proves the addend is insurance, although the surrounding tuition page notes that insurance can change yearly. This is why the directory reports the three addends exactly and calls the whole field a combined entry charge. Assigning a label without documentary support would look more precise while being less accurate.

Secondary provision needs an exit-credential conversation

Because the current page extends to Secondary 6, parents should ask what final qualification pupils receive, which Thai national examinations apply, what English-language certificates are offered, and where recent graduates enrolled. A school offering all grade levels may still have different programme intensity in upper secondary. Request the current Secondary 4-6 subject list, weekly English-medium periods, laboratory provision, university counselling and cohort size. Do not infer A-Level, IB or an international diploma from the words “English Programme.”

Compare with BPIS at the actual transition point

A family considering a move into BPIS should compare the child's current BEST grade with BPIS entry requirements. BPIS starts at Year 7 and uses British/Cambridge naming; BEST uses Thai Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary labels. The age mapping and syllabus sequence may not align one-to-one. Ask both schools whether a placement test is required, whether a new application or registration fee applies, and whether prior BEST attendance provides any formal priority. The shared institutional relationship is relevant, but only written admissions terms can establish a guaranteed benefit.

Location can be a real value advantage

BEST sits at 253/12 Moo 13 in Nongprue, near the BPIS campus and within the inland Pattaya school cluster. Families living around Nongprue, East Pattaya, Huai Yai or the Sukhumvit-Pattaya Soi 81 corridor may have a much shorter run than to Ban Chang or Si Racha schools. That commute saving has financial value, especially when the public bus tariff is missing. Test the route at arrival and dismissal time, then compare the cost of school transport or a private driver with the difference in tuition.

What a dated quote should contain

The written quote should name the academic year, child's exact Thai grade, tuition by term, the purpose and refund status of all three entry addends, bus route and monthly or term cost, food plan, uniform set, textbooks, devices, activities, trips, examinations, insurance and late-payment terms. Ask whether a returning family pays the combined entry column again. The current public image cannot answer that frequency question on its own. A dated itemised quote turns a useful but incomplete primary source into a decision-grade budget.

// 03 · Decision check

Best fit + cautions.

  • Full K1-S6 scope. BEST is no longer correctly described as primary-only.
  • Low tuition. Annualised bands remain well below most international schools.
  • Academic year missing. The current image is primary but undated.
  • Extras missing. Transport, food, uniform, books and exams need a written quote.
// 04 · Written-offer checklist

Turn the public record
into your invoice.

The public sources establish a defensible starting point, but a family commits to the written offer, not to this page. Ask BEST to put the child's exact grade, attendance pattern and applicable academic year at the top of the quote. The document should separate tuition, application, registration or entrance fees, refundable deposits, annual insurance, learning support, meals, transport, uniform, books or resources, devices, activities, trips and examinations. If a published amount is described as optional, confirm whether the child's assessment, timetable or home location makes it practically required.

Request the payment dates and the total under every payment method. An instalment plan can cost more than annual payment; an annual figure can include a discount that a term-paying family will not receive. Ask which charges repeat each year, which are one-time, which are refundable, and what notice preserves a refund when the family relocates. Where the public source does not state an academic year, require the school to write the year beside the figures. Where an examination or service is published without a price, require the current amount or an explicit “not yet set” line.

Curriculum and recognition belong in the same written check. Ask for the grade's actual curriculum, language of instruction by subject, exit qualification, examination centre and current campus-specific regulator or accreditor link. Do not assume a logo covers every grade or campus. For learning support, request the assessment decision, staff role, frequency, group size, price and review dates. For transport, get the exact stop, pickup and return time, adult supervision and annual cost. For a school ending before the family's intended graduation point, identify the next school and admissions requirements early.

Finally, compare like with like. A part-time early-years line is not equivalent to five-day full-day provision; a Thai-English Programme is not the same credential as a British international curriculum; a Japanese- or French-medium specialist school is not a substitute for an English-medium school solely because its tuition is lower. A complete signed offer, a grade-level timetable and a tested school-run route are the minimum evidence for a six-figure-baht decision.
